What better way of fighting invasive reptiles than eating them? Killing two birds with one stone is also the title of the talk I and my student Kathleen Webster gave at the EAT Festival of Munich's new Biotopia museum. A creative, integrative, and potentially efficient method of fighting invasives – my impression was that the audience applauded!

Back to the islands again! I am visiting the Comoros Archipelago with my fellow herpetologists Ashwini Mohan and Kathleen Webster to support their respective research projects into Phelsuma geckos and Trachylepis and Flexiseps skinks. Thanks to the Comoran people for all their support and kindness they have provided in all my travels there.
We proudly present you the new design and layout of our field guide! This is just a small preview of the mammal part. In the next weeks, as we make progress, we will present you some of the other parts of the books. Click on the picture to see more pages. Enjoy!
Just returned from two weeks of intense work in the Comoros. This time it was less of actual field surveys and more of administrative tasks. But all for the greater good: We are collaborating with Eco-Med, the Naturalistes de Mayotte, the CNDRS, and other partners in publishing an atlas of the distribution of all reptiles and amphibians of the Comoros Archipelago. Work is progressing well, and there is an amazing team of students continuing the field work on the islands.
Good news! After reaching our fundraising goal on Ulule, the DEAL (environmental office) of Mayotte offered to support the production of our field guide on the fauna of the Comoros Archipelago with around 4000 Euros. As we explained on our Ulule site, this will not only allow us to produce an even better version of the book but also give us more freedom for the production. The DEAL also indicated the pre-ordering of 100 books. Thanks again to everyone who supported our project!
